12/3/03 NYJavaSIG Meeting - Creating Dazzling Effects with Java Advanced Imaging

F

Frank D. Greco

NEW YORK JavaSIG,

Tired of boring, clunky forms-based interfaces? Building a fat
client that strangely looks like a thin client? Want to construct
useful visualization subsystems to analyze financial or pharma
data in new and effective ways? Ever want to write your own
PhotoShop, but in 100% Java?

I bet you didn't know there was a whole software world underneath
and to the side of the Swing Toolkit (its just a step to the left).

At our next meeting, one of the members of the Java Advanced Imaging
Expert Group will give us a tutorial on leveraging Java2D (the
framework used to build Swing) and the optional Java Advanced
Imaging (JAI) package for interesting applications.

Remember, Imaging is Everything...
