preferably with source for AWT.

I thought it was in J2SE.

THere is JColorChooser for Swing but nothing official from Sun for
AWT.

Would anyone care to recommend a ColorChooser, without restrictions,
preferably with source for AWT.

The good old java.beans package comes with a very simplistic kind of AWT
color chooser.
You can get it with
PropertyEditor editor =
PropertyEditorManager.findEditor(Color.class);
The PropertyEditor has getValue and setValue methods. Its getCustomEditor
method gives a Component (actually a subclass of Panel) meant to be added
into a larger GUI.
