Ethernet and TCP/IP proto in vhdl

Hello there

I'm looking for some implementation TCP protocol in VHDL language.
Maybe some software have all ready modules for Ethernet standard?
I want to get on that level, when I can get statistic information about
some packets.

If I'm not mistaken, TCP is not handled by hardware, ethernet is. So
you will not find VHDL implementations in VHDL.

Check out www.opencores.org for an ethernet implementation.

Maybe it boils down to a culture difference between sw and hw developers.
Burned boards tend to make the penalty for mistakes higher.. ;), and you can't
apply patches "later"..

TCP in VHDL

One big advantage of implementing an IP, UDP or TCP stack in VHDL for implementation in an FPGA is the high throughput and low latency.

There is an example of such an IP stack here:

It can be implemented on a fairly low-cost FPGA (Xilinx Spartan-6) running at a slow (125 MHz) processing clock, yet achieves nearly Gbit speed. This IP core is not free but is quite low-cost for an unlimited license.
