Proper META Tag?

C

Chuck

Is this a proper META Tag?

<meta name="keywords" content="Richland High School, richland, richland
hills, high school, alumni, ft. worth, fort worth, birdville">
<meta name="description" content="Welcome to the Richland High School Alumni
page. A great way to keep in touch with your fellow Richland Rebel Alumni.">

Do the search engines still rely on META tags for the searches?

Thanks...

Chuck

No, there are two meta elements (and tags).

Mostly no but use them anyway as occasionally they are used. And
there's no need to repeat keywords, the engines will pair things up
for you.

No.

They do occasionally. If you've used meta tags and the opposition
hasn't all other things being equal you're ahead of the game.

That's what they say. "They" refers here to people who try to make a
living by selling "utilities" and "services" for creating meta tags.

Other things being equal (they never all, but you started being
hypothetical), the side wins that has spent time in improving content
(and appearance) rather than playing with meta tags.
