Restrict GridView Row Edit To Numbers

Hi,

I have a GridView bound to sql that i chose to generate an Edit button
for each row.

When I click edit it allows to put text+numbers... i want to restrict
to a numeric range.

I think i need to use TemplateFields for this.. so i converted the
desired bound column to a template field and now i can go to its
EditItemTemplate. But in there i'm not sure how to do it... there's
no numeric up/down to replace the text box with... (i don't have
ajax).


is there an easy way to do this? i've tried searching but not much
luck... i used to do it in ASP using javascript called upon
onkeydown. I've tried adding a RangeValidator/compareValidator, but
their bind settings are grayed out...
