i am currently studying on how can i integrate a shopping cart into my
clients website. i know the idea of having a shopping cart. my
question is how can i let them download the product after they paid it
from paypal.com?

PayPal lets you set a return URL upon a successful order.
Generate the URL dynamically and you should be all set.
