I really like the Ajax.Net framework available from

The documentation on the front page is most of what you'll need, but

Works here, there's always a couple of outstanding bugs so YMMV - check
the group for examples.

I'm using it quite happily in a production .Net 2.0 system and I've had
no issues at all.
