ASP.NET 2.0 web project changes filenames to lower case

n33470

We have a web site that is being converted from the 1.1 format into
2.0. I've noticed that after the web project has been converted, the
first time that the solution is opened in VS, all of the aspx and ascx
filenames are changed to lowercase.

The filenames are not being changed during the conversion process.
After conversion completes, the filenames remain unchanged. However,
the first time that the solution is opened in VS2005, the mixed-case
filenames of the ASPX and ASCX files are all changed to lowercase.

It only seems to happen in web pages that are separate folders. All
of the web pages contained in the root directory of the web project are
unchanged. Here is an example.

The web site is http://localhost/MyWebSite. There is a folder called
"somefolder" with a web page "MyWebPage.aspx" along with the
code-behind class "MyWebPage.aspx.cs". After the conversion wizard
completes in VS the filenames are still correct. Now, close the
solution in VS and re-open it again. Now the filename of the web page
is changed to "mywebpage.aspx". The code behind file is not changed,
only the aspx.

This behavior only seems to effect web pages converted from the old
format. If I create a new web page with a mixed-case filename inside
of VS2005.....it works just fine.

Has anyone else noticed this? Is there any way to preserve the mixed
case filenames during the conversion process?
