ASP.NET Authorization

Is the authorization tag/class in web.config\<system.web> available
only for Windows authorization? Does it make sense for Forms based
authentication?

It's available for Forms as well.

This info will be accessed by the Forms Authentication module to find out
whether the current Principal is authorized to access the requested resource
or not.
