i've been trying to use an image as my background to sort of layout the
page and then put the graphics and text on-top.
the problem is that the background image allways tiles on me.
does anyone know how to prevent this.
i'm also not shore if i should bee useing the image as a background or
if ther is some way to make it a locked layer or something.
to see what i mean here or a few example pages
www.macromedia.com
www.versiontracker.com
www.horizonsp.com

notice that the backgrounds have graphics that can not be selected and
have other objects on top.

i'm pretty new to web design, and am using dream-weaver, and fireworks
for handling graphics.
please help

You can prevent a background repeating:
