Check JNLP?

I updated the .JNLP of the PhySci software suite to include
a splash screen. Now (after various uploads, amendments,
deleting shortcuts) it will download and run, but it does
not set up the 'launch PhySci' shortcut in the menus, and I
have yet to see the splash image.

Could I get others to try installing it and report their
experiences, particularly in relation to the shortcuts and
splash image (description - 'blue sky').

You can get it here..

I see a gray box with the text "PhySci is loading" (after the Java
splash image). The first time I ran it Isaw another splash screen as
well, but I'm not sure if it fits the description 'blue sky' (meaning
that I'm not sure, not that I think it doesn't).

Windows 2000 Professional
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20040911
Firefox/0.10.1
Java runtime Versión 1.4.2_03 (build 1.4.2_03-b02)

Download and install, ok. Application works fine. Sadly, no splash screen and no
shortcuts.

Sorry, it would have made more sense to link to it..

Not that there is also a small (now outdated) splash dialog,
it appears in the upper left of the monitor and looks like this..

Of course, since it's swing, it only appears moments before the
main toolbar, then it vanishes quickly.

Hm, both links just bring me to this page:

http://www.athompson.info/andrew/hotlink.jsp

SH*T! Sorry, sorry, sorry...

First I have a problem with hot-linking, so I tell the server
'no hot-link', now I have a slew of problems from unavailable
resources.. :-/

I'll let you know if I come up with something more sensible.
(I might remove the hot-link protection from images..)

...actually, (muses) maybe that *is* the problem, if you cannot
access those images without problems, it stands to reason that
JWS cannot.

I'll get back to y'all, but (checks watch) gotta'
duck out the door right now.

That was definitely the problem with the splash image.
I have now seen it after, not lifting hot-link protection
from .jpg files, but allowing them to be accessed by
checking 'Allow direct requests' in the hot-link
configuration.

...the menus is another matter.

The 'splash image' was resolved by relaxing hot-link protection
on .jpg files, but the .gif files (for the application icon in
the menus) were never protected in the first place.

I discovered why the software suite did not appear in menus,
it was options of JWS itself, it allows the user to put JWS
software into the menus, but my (local 1.5.0) based version is
apparently not configured to do it automatically, which seems
odd. I will have to track this back and find out if it was a
configuration setting I chose at installation.. I don't recall
any such questions/settings.
