COnvert word document to html on server

Is it possible to upload a word document to the web server and convert it to
HTML server side? I'd then be looking to either store in a DB or save as a
HTML file in a folder on the server.

I'm fine with the saving/inserting to the DB but really want to know if I
can convert word to HTML on the server?

You can use Word automation on the server, to open the file and then save as
html. However; it's discouraged by Microsoft,
