css stylesheet switcher and body background....

i'm using paul sowden's javascript stylesheet switcher
(http://www.alistapart.com/stories/alternate/) and it works a treat.
there is one peculiarity however.

in IEx (v6) all styles change apart from the body background. actually,
to be strictly accurate it does change, it just doesn't show it. i can
use a smaller window to 'paint in' the new colour by dragging it across
the browser window, and if i resize the browser window, the new
background style >clinks< into place.

the style switches completely (background and all) in firefox and
opera. is this just an IEx page-drawing glitch, and if so is there a
way around it?
