Eclipse with ClearCase plugin

Hi all,

I have installed the ClearCase plugin on Eclipse. I now wish to create
a project which uses a ClearCase vob.

However, when I create the project and make it use the existing source,
the ClearCase menu's items are all greyed out, despite the files all
being ClearCase elements. How do I use these menu items?

Furthermore how do I then put the project files created by eclipse (e.g
..metadata folder, .project, .classpath) into the vob? Would I just
create them as new clearcase objects as normal?

Thanks,

John

In the menu Clearcase the first option says: Connect to rational
Clearcase. By checking this will have your files associated with
clearcase.
This is for one plugin, the other had something when right clicking on
the project -> Team -> associate with clearcase. Something like this.

Depends on the setup of your plugin, any new file or affected file in
the vob will be added to clearcase, if not configured so, you will have
to add it manually from the Clearcase explorer...

good luck with it

Thanks impaler, the associate with ClearCase bit was what I needed.

Although possibly redundant, here are instructions for creating an
Eclipse project from a ClearCase vob.

1. Ensure you have installed Eclipse, ClearCase and the ClearCase
Eclipse plugin. In my case I needed ClearCase on my pc and mapped the
vob to a drive.
2. Create a new project in your workspace. Make it use existing
source and set the location to the source folder in the mapped drive.
3. Activate the ClearCase plugin (if not already done so). Do this by
going to the ClearCase menu and choosing "Activate plugin"
4. Associate the project with ClearCase. Do this by right clicking on
the Project folder in the package explorer. Then go to "Team" then
"Associate with ClearCase"
5. The .project and .classpath files will be in the vob (if you list
all files on linux) but will not be clearcase objects. You will need
to make them so if you wish with ct mkelem or whatever.

Hope this helps anyone else in the future.
