Get file size on client machine ?

I use asp upload enabling users to upload files to the server.

This works fine but I somehow need to check to see how big the file to be
uploaded is.

How can I do this ?
Once its on the server its easy to get the size of it but how do I get the
file size when the file is still on the clients machine ?

You can't, not without the use of some control which would access the file
properties of the client's file.
