How to observe the compution result?

I have a program, one of whose intermediate rusults is a 2-Dimentional
dataset. I used Totalview to visualize this kind of data array long
time ago. However, Totalview isn't a free software.

Do you know any other software which can help me to visualize 2-D or
3-D dimentional data? If there is no such software, is there any other
good way to inspect the intermediate data so that I can debug the
programs?
