how to read binary file in java and how convert into ASCII

Hi all,
I have a prolem here ..
I need to read a binary file and then convert that into ascii after
removing unprintable characters withing it ....
I am able to read that file now but all i can see is binary format
data "special characters/ junk data".
Please guide me as how can i convert that file in ASCII after reading
and then remove unprintable characters ....
