icon in browser address bar

Hi,

Does anyone know how to add an icon to the url in the address bar in the
browser?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Change the URL to your own .ico file, and add a closing "/" if using XHTML.

Just realised I was reading comp.lang.javascript (not alt.www.webmaster,

With FireFox and some others
you just need to :
- have an icon in *.ico format (not in bmp suffixed ico !)
- name your icon : 'favicon.ico'
- place this icon at root of your site

No need to code '<link ... blah />'
in your pages

But you can also have an icon in other graphic format, Firefox and some
others browsers accept it if specified in tag link
ig type="image/gif" ...

About IE and icon in favorites ... works + or - well.
