I have been having trouble invalidating a Canvas. old junk would
display on screen even after I had invalidated and repainted.
I think I now understand the problem.
I sent the repaint to the entire Applet. From the Applet's point of
view, the only thing that needs repainting is that which is currently
visible. Ditto for the ScrollPane. I have to send a repaint
specifically to the Canvas inside the ScrollPane to get the whole
thing logically cleared.
