I think you missed my point. The C99 *subset* selected by MISRA would
presumably be within the scope of what is provided by C90 as well; a full
C99 implementation would not be required in order to support code meeting
the MISRA guidelines.

Yes.. I see your point. In any event the C3 version will be C99 subset.
