Hi,
I googled "javascript framework" and found many links to prototype.js
and one to mochikit. Prototype tries to make JavaScript into Ruby and
it seems that mochikit tries to make JavaScript into Python. They do
this by writing libraries of functions that are similar to the other,
"more desirable" language. Mochikit even says it "makes JavaScript suck
less". I seem to think JavaScript is less than an ideal language but I
don't see how writing a higher level language on top of JavaScript is a
big advantage.
Anyway, if these "frameworks" are really just function libraries why
are they called frameworks at all? Isn't a framework a skeleton for a
file structure, a set of rules for how those files will divide
responsibilities and interact, and maybe some support code to make all
this happen? Is there a real JavaScript framework?
Thanks,
Peter
