Minimum work to sync bold/italic JToggleButton with JTextPane

What's the easiest way to make a JToolBar with JToggleButtons for bold,
italic and underline to be synchronized with the text in a JTextPane?

For example if I put the cursor in the JTextPane within text that's
just bold I want the bold JToggleButton to be on and the italic and
underline to be off?
And also if the text selected is italic than the italic button should
be selected.
