Hi Matt, you're right, I stand corrected about quirksmode != valid HTML
and the importance of putting DTD.

I guess its just my experience with trying to use xhtml strict DTD and
trying to validate against w3c validator. Seems like a lot of time
spend on syntax, rather than getting on things that users can see. I
just test my pages on the major browsers.

Duh. The point being made that the validity of html is not a trigger for
standards vs. quirks mode.
The OP seemed to imply that HTML that did not validate correctly would throw
a browser into quirks mode, which is incorrect.

Posting just to be an argumentative jerk is quite unnecessary.
