This is the most nightmarish Exception to get because it has so many
causes. I wonder if Sun might consider splitting the exception up so
the particular flavour of exception gave you more of a clue why things
failed.
compatibility should be ok if the new exceptions were subclasses of
NoClassDefFoundError.
In particular errors is static init of the loaded class should look
slightly different from not being able to find the class at all.
