Nullable types

I have an object that I am returning from a dataset using new Nullable types
(.NET 2.0)

class MyClass{
int? id;
string val="";
}

[WebMethod]
public MyClass GetMyClass(){....

Its fine when id is not null but when it is, my Framework 1.1 guys get
exceptions (XML serialization) upon calling proxy.GetMyClass().

I've tried a number of things but none seem to work. Is this even possible?
