This is used for grouping, organizing your code.
I group a method and related methods under a region and so on

you can collapse these regions and that way you can see a nice outline of
your code

You can collapse methods etc... but by grouping in regions you can collapse
even more.

It's a hint to the IDE (ie, visual studio, Web Developer Express)...about
how to display code. It's stripped out of your compiled code...as the above
poster said, it merely helps organize it.
