Request.Form and user control in aspx page

Hello,
during long time I used to evaluate
Request.Form["userControlID:controlIDonUserControl"]
which was compound from the identification of the user control plus :
plus identification of the control on that user control
on multiple IIS servers and browsers it was correct.
But I encountered one IIS which produces
the identification of the user control plus $ plus identification of
the control on that user control

$ instead of :

Unfortunatelly I cannot play with this IIS server,
does anybody know what can be the cause ?
What else characters can be used instead of : or & ?
Can be IIS set to use : ?
