Script does not work!

I have inserted some javascript on an asp page.the script is for attaching
a
tail to the mouse icon on the screen.
When the asp page contains -
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN"
"http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd">
at the top the javascript does not function.
When I remove this string the script works alright.

Further when I change the extension of the page to htm the javascript works
alright even with the line at the top of the page

No idea. It's still not an asp issue. ASP cannot control the mouse cursor or
anything else that is controlled by the browser. You have a browser issue,
not an ASP issue.
