setting precision with C++

This is my first post but I read alot of the threads on the site and hope that some one can help me. When I use a string maniupilater, setprecision (), to be specific and I want to return to the default setting how do I do this ? I can set it to any value but I would like to know not only for this command but any string manipulator how to return to the default.

But what I want to do is set the precision to 4 for example then later on I want to return to the infinite or default value. So if I understand what you are saying it would be just dont use setprecision() ?
