Hi all,

I understand that this mail will be slightly off-subject but as web masters
i'm sure we have all at some point dealt with spam mail...

Is their a free (small download) product i can use from the net to filter my
e-mail - somthing that sits on top of OUTLOOK and stops me from receiving
all this crud mail>>>

I have tried the option in outlook to 'Block Sender' but it doesn;t work...

Any help please ???

Thanks a million

Check your servers first with www.junkmailcop.com - better than mailwasher.

mailwasher is fab. just bounce the buggers back to hell.

Please don't.

Have a look at the current batch of "MS patch" viruses that you're getting -
I'll bet a significant number are "bounces". They've been bounced to you
because the recipient put a bounce in place. The problem is the "From"
header field is forged and so the emails are bounced to people who didn't
send them.

I'm currently getting around 100 a day - it's slackened off over the last
week - and around a third are "bounces". The patch is approx 145k so that's
almost 5 meg of bandwidth each day wasted on bouncing the messages to
someone who didn't send them. That's heading on towards a couple of gig a
year - and that's just me. There's a danger that, if the spammers don't have
the whole thing grind to a halt, we'll do it for them by doubling the
traffic with bounces.

please don't do that - PeterMcC explains why. just use it to filter your
downloads and optionally consign the remainder to the bit-bucket.

How are you sure the email address you are bouncing it to actually belongs
to the spammer?

Writing as someone who made a similar comment to Iso's, I didn't want to
spoil your fun.
If it made you feel that good - why not bounce just a few of them?

:)

I got so swamped by this that I moved my primary email to my webserver and
wrote a little utility that deleted any emails with the attachment.

That got rid of all of them but it still burns me having to give up on my
former primary email. Also note the no spam reply to that I never used to
use!
