Sound in applets

Hi,

I have an applet that is compiled using jdk 1.1. It plays sounds fine
when running in MS VM. It plays sounds not so good in Sun Java Plug-In
1.4 (some sounds only). And it plays sound realy bad using Sun's new
1.5.

Does anyone have an idea why that is?

The sounds are 8 kHz 8 bit my. I use the AudioClip.play().
