String.replace function parameter

H

HopfZ

I was reading the json.js code at json.org.
String.prototype.toJSONString contains the following part of code:

this.replace(/([\x00-\x1f\\"])/g, function(a, b) {
...
}

Inside function(a,b), only b is refered. a is not used.

But doesn't a and b have the same value in this case?
