UserControl will not clear on sucessful insert

I have a user control which is dynamically loaded on to the page and
contains a formview which does an insert. When I do the insert the form
clears and if I want I can add another record. However on the insert I want
to hide the user control (the user sees the new info else where on the
page). However setting the visability to false in the formview inserted
event seems to stop the form clearing. When I set the visability of the
control back to true the form is still filled in with the previous data.
