validator control dilemma part 1

hey all,

i'm developing on a xp pro,vsnet2k3,fw1.1 and i have a Required Field
Validator control on it. Well when i deploy my app to a windows server
2003,framework 2.0 my validator controls don't work. it still ends up posting
back?

any ideas?
