VEMap Web Site Does Not Run in IE

I am working with the VEMap based upon the article in the September, 2006
MSDN magazine (page 82). I have created a website using VS2005 in three ways:

1. Using an ASP.NET Web Application project.
2. Using an ASP.NET filesystem website.
3. Creating an IIS 5.1 virtual directory, http://localhost/VEMap1 (under XP
SP2).

I have tried to open the page in the VS2005 debugger and by typing the above
URL into the browser without using the debugger.

Each time I get a message box with an error similar to, "Internet Explorer
cannot open the Internet site http://localhost/VEMap1/Default.aspx.
Operation aborted". Each time the map shows in the browser, but, of course,
the browser closes as soon as the message box is cleared. Obviously this is
an impediment to getting some hands-on experience with this function. Also,
I have an immediate place where I can use this in a real application.

Can anyone provide me with a way to fix and avoid this behavior?

As always, any input is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Eagle
