Web user control - custom web control - java script.

Hi,
I have a web use control that contains my menu. When a user clicks on
a button if they have permission they will be redirected to the next
page, but if they don't an alert msg will show up. The alert msg is a
custom defined web control. the problem I have is when I click the
button the page goes away and only the alert msg is on the screen.
Does any body know how I can fix this?
