writing a vector graphic

Does anybody know the best way of writing a simple polygon out to a vector
format file which may be opened by somethig such as visio or corel draw

possible formats i know of are wmf and epf

but i can't figure out how to do it - and all the libraries i have found are
not freeware

any tips??

Maybe you should look into Scalable Vector Graphics:

http://www.w3.org/TR/SVG/
