ATTN: Microsoft --- CDO Security Issues?

R

Ron

My host insists that the latest version of the CDO library is full of
security issues and that I will need to use JMail (which isn't even
supported by .Net). Can anyone tell me what security issues there are (if
any) and what can be done about them?

Thanks,

Ron

the biggest issue with System.Web.Mail is lack of support for SMTP
authentication, which your host probably requires. if you create wrappers
for the win2k version of cdo, you can do it. you just need to find out the
parameters used by jmail. there are also serveral 3rd party SMTP .net
clients that suppport it.

note: asp.net is not secure itself unless you are on a dedicated server. its
pretty easy to hack into other sites on the same server.
