Can't access a SWF file through IE 7.0

I know this isn't the right place to post this but I don't see where to post
it.

I got a new Dell laptop and installed the Flash Player. When I play a SWF
locally it works fine. When I play something from the web I sometime get a
'Invalid Character' message.

Other people can play the same file on their machines fine. So I assume it
has something to do with the way the machine's security is set.

Any ideas?
