What do you need the information for?

If your server and client belong to the same subnet, then each can
determine the other's MAC address from his arp table, which requires
native code or an external helper.

If the server and client do not belong to the same subnet, then the
MAC address is not automatically available. You need to *ask* the
remote to provide it, which I suspect probably defeats whatever
purpose you intend to use it for.
