LDAP without additional libraries

Dear all,

Looking for an LDAP module, I found so far
only bindings/APIs that use libraries like
OpenLDAP in the back-end.

Is there nothing that builds on a low level
(socket) API or so that can be used without
installing any additional software?

Or is perhaps somebody working on a Net::LDAP
module
