Opening New Windows

Do you deny that "new" windows can provide more accessibility and user-
friendliness than "same" windows?

Can you provide an example of opening a new window where the benefit
is to the user, rather than to the webmaster? Will that benefit be
conferred upon all users, including (but not limited to) visually
impaired or physically disabled users?
If so, you suffer from the same
hysteria which affects so new-window antagonists.

Ad-hom arguments rarely carry the day.

Sure. The user should always have the choice. But the choice should be
provided if there is any reasonable reason for it. I like having
choices and so does everyone. These incessant arguments about "new"
windows are...shallow at best.
if you think one way is more user friendly than another or your
usability testing indicates one way is better than the other then do
that. its simple with a bit of giggly scripting to make site wide
behavioral changes for those that prefer it the other way.

User-friendly is relative, but if the choice is provided...
i think people forget they have the power to cater to all their visitors
with just a bit of thinking and effort, not just the majority or the
minority.

If by "people" you mean the vast majority of web designers and posters
re. this subject, I agree.
wow, this batch of crack is really good!

Good crack sometimes means something else here up-over.
i don't care as long as i can get nude and run around in circles waving
my arms in the air screaming "the cornflakes are soggy, the cornflakes
are soggy"

That was "hysteria" not "dementia".

Large graphics, accumulating and "saving/holding" numerous pages, etc.
I've played around with this alot and there are benefits in certain types
of sites.
Ad-hom arguments rarely carry the day.

Is the point to win the argument or put forth a more logical opinion?

It is brucie, however. Could be *anything*...

brucie could be anything or "it" could be anything? -Or is "it" brucie
and they're both anything? On further thought, never mind.
