3D applet

Hello,
I am looking to make a 3D applet in pure JAVA, so as to display some
3D modele on the Internet.

I have no idea about how to do that.

I wont use Java3D, because it force the user to intall java 3D
extension.

I know that it is possible: I saw the Blaxxun applet working, o the
one from demicron.

Is there any open source project? Or any one can help me to figure out
the best way to develop such applet ?
