500 error when accessing web service

When trying to access a web service over the internet, the user receives a
500 error. The web service however does work if you go to the server and try
to access it either through the test web page and through a test application
that was developed... Can anyone point me to documentation on the web on how
to figure out what the problem is?

Try to do some logging.
As long as you don't get more information about the error it's har
guessing what the problem might be.

Well... turns out that the name resolution for the internet address was
incorrect... I used the raw ip address and things started working... Also
the webservice was not configured properly so it was throwing an exception
causing the webservice to hang... I will look into that tracing as it may
have uncovered the problems faster... thanks for you help...
