Automated download and installation

Hi,
Im developing an web based application and im facing trouble here. The scenario is this.

The user clicks a button named after an application, the application should start downloading to the local harddisk to a specified folder. the path has to be set by the web application and not by the user. Im using asp.net for this.

pls do help me..
