Best way to prompt for a file path?

Hello

I am using a html file type to prompt for a file path, but it is losing the value after a submit or in case of a submit? Is there another server component that does this more efficiently
Or should I store this value in the viewstate, not sure when would be the exact case to save and restore

I never used this control, HtmlInputHiddenFile? do you mean a html control type hidden
And if this is the case, to the user value entered is lost, even though it is not lost, the user can't see it
By the way what is the purpose of multipart/form-data?
