converted project won't intellisense!

Hi guys

I've just opened an old web project in VS2005 for the first time, and it
went through the conversion wizard with 0 errors.

However, I can't seem to get intellisense to work in the C# cs files.

Example, I edited a page, added an asp:DropDownList with id and runat
properties, and went to my codebehind. I tried to get to the new ddl object
(id: ddlRelates to). I typed dd... no intellisense. I then notice that none
of the controls on the pages appear available in the codebehind, even if I
change the classes to "partial class".

Um... what broke? And how do I fix it!?

Hi Dan,

Regarding on the old project, is it an VS 2003/asp.net 1.1 project and are
you converting it to the default VS 2005 web site project? For controls on
ASP.NET 2.0 web page, since it use partial class to associate aspx template
and codebehind, it will not explicitly add control member variable in
codebehind file(control member will be generated and compile at dynamic
compilation stage). However, in Visual Studio 2005 IDE, the intellisense
should still work.

Have you tried close and reopen the solution/project to see whether it
works. Also, since VS 2005 web site project do not need project file, you
can delete those project specific files.

In addition, if convenient, you can also create a simplified project which
can repro the behavior so that I can perform some test on my side. You can
send the project through the email in my signature(remove "online").

Sincerely,

Steven Cheng
