difference between asp session state and asp.net session state.

Hi all,

Can anyone tell me what is difference between asp session state and
asp.net session state.

I read somewhere that asp session Serialize all requests from a
client, Does not survive process shutdown. So what it exactly means
and what solution is provided in asp.net for this.

Please correct me if i am wrong.
