Drag n drop between windows and website

I have a customer who wants to be able to drag file from the windows
explorer on to a treeview in a web site. Can this be done?

Not via standard HTML, javascript and web browsers.

You'd need some custom ActiveX control at the very least. Or, possibly, a
standalone application outside of the browser.
