Extend Panel control - and set to grid layout

Hi,

I'd like to extend the built in Panel control for a number of reasons. I
know that you can set the ms_positioning="GridLayout" in the underlying
HTML - but is there any way to encapsulate this in the a custom control so
that it integrates nicely with the designer?
